En esta selección de obras sobre papel recientes, REBOOT plantea diferentes maneras de entender el dibujo
ahondando así en el interés permanente de Makenzie por el símbolo, la metáfora y la narrativa abstracta. Las obras
que componen esta exposición han sido realizadas con diversas técnicas como pastel, carboncillo, tinta, pluma o
aerógrafo, e incorporan también electricidad y microprocesadores.
Reuniendo trípticos electroluminiscentes, diseños clásicos de videojuegos y participando en la cultura contemporánea
Maker, Makenzie se sirve de la sumisión y curiosidad con la pantalla, para trazar tropos como la muerte, la violencia y
el individualismo.
Desde Holbein a Atari, de elixires a vaqueros, de la guerra termonuclear a las olas del océano, estas imágenes chocan
entre sí para cuestionar la configuración del mundo en el que queremos vivir.

 

 

Working over the span of several years, Makenzie has created a diverse body of drawings. Reboot is a selection of them
which highlight different approaches to drawing, tied together through his continued interest in symbolism, metaphor
and abstract narrative. The works on paper are made with pastel, charcoal, pen and ink and airbrush whilst also
incorporating electricity and microcontrollers.
Mixing electroluminescent triptychs, early Atari game design, and contemporary Maker culture, Makenzie relies on our
dependence and curiosity of the televisual experience to address tropes such as death, violence, and individualism.
From Holbein to Atari, elixirs to cowboys, or thermo-nuclear war to rolling ocean waves, these images all come together
asking the question, what kind of world do we want to live in while we are here?
